Northern Hemisphere Result
The result is finally in! The most hotly contested astrophotography competition of 2020 has been decided. Before we crown the winners of the nPAE Northern Hemisphere Astrophotography Competition 2020 there are some important announcements.
Firstly we’d like to thank all the competitors for entering. They were all amazing images and we thoroughly enjoyed deciding who was going to make the cut. Secondly we’d like to thank the almost 4,000 people who took part in the poll to help inform the judges of who the public thought was worthy. The judges didn’t quite agree with you. But more of that later.
On a personal level we’d like to thank Pete Williamson, a good friend of nPAE’s for entering with the largest telescope: The Liverpool 2 meter telescope in La Palma.
Here are the judges’ final choices….
In 3rd place, winning a £50 ($62) nPAE voucher, is Frederico with NGC2264. Well done!
In 2nd place, and the winner of the nPAE Theia astro imaging filter changer, is Freddy with the Iris Nebula. Awesome!
And the 1st place winner – who was also first in the public poll with over 1,00 votes – collecting £300 ($375) and becoming the nPAE Northern Hemisphere Astrophotography Champion 2020! Is………………… Gaetan with the Jellyfish Nebula. Fantastic!
Thank you again to all those who entered making this competition possible. We look forward to everyone entering again next year. Remember the Sun, Moon and planets are all objects in the sky! Nobody entered these objects, hence non in the final 9 or on the podium. There are some great solar system imagers out there so please do enter next time. For those astronomers who can see the Southern Hemisphere please do enter our Southern Hemisphere objects competition which will be opening shortly.
